In this poem, the poet Allama Iqbal likens politics to the game of chess.

He says that in chess, there is a pawn and a minister Similarly, in politics, there is a pawn and a minister,

The poor pawn is insignificant, but he, who has a high position, is a minister. He is also unaware of Shater’s next move.

Allama Iqbal’s political career

Allama Iqbal joined politics in 1908 after returning from England, first as Punjab Muslim League Joint secretary.

He was against the Indian national congress.

In November 1926, when Allama’s friends and family insisted on participating in the election, he won the election from Punjab legislative assembly on Muslim district Lahore with a margin of 3,177 votes.

He supported the Constitutional proposal presented by Muhammad Ali Jinnah to guarantee the political rights of Muslims.
